As a classically-trained figurative artist, my goal is to capture both the joys and weaknesses of contemporary society through my paintings. I seek to speak to the new generation, which embraces a sense of damnation and subjectivity as a source of strength. By using traditional techniques and subject matter, I aim to create works that are both timeless and relevant, inviting viewers to reflect on the beauty and complexity of the world around us. Through my art, I hope to inspire others to explore their own emotions and experiences, and to engage in a deeper, more meaningful dialogue about the challenges and opportunities we face in our modern age.

Giotto Riva was born in 1998 and has always been interested in art. After attending an art high school, he began to explore different techniques of representation. He received his classical and figurative education in Barcelona, where he lived and studied under the guidance of the master Jordi Diaz Alama for four years at the Barcelona Academy of Art.
At the Academy, he completed the advanced program in drawing and painting, delving into the study of human anatomy, light and form, chiaroscuro, and painting techniques through the analysis of the great masters.
The theme of the nude has been a constant in the artistic journey, a topic that remains central in his current artistic exploration. Giotto has always been fascinated by the realism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and enamored with the rebellious spirit of the French post-impressionists and the Italian Scapigliatura movement.
In his work, he paint both from life and using photography as a reference for sketches and preparatory drawings. Typically prefer linen, and oil colors are their primary medium, but he also experiment with copperplate engravings, graphite drawings, and, more recently, small sculptures.
the artistic research and obsession revolve around the figurative representation of the human, social, and psychological condition of the modern man.
Upon returning to his hometown of Milan, Giotto collaborated with and coordinated the painting program at the Milan Academy of Art, a figurative academy in the heart of the city where he currently lives and works. Now he’s teaching and coordinating the drawing and painting program at the Milano Painting Academy. sponsored by the Maimeri Foundation. In 2019, Giotto received the University Prize at the Morlotti Prize and the second prize in the Painting category at the Artrights Prize competition.
His works have been exhibited in various cities such as Milan, Barcelona, Rome and London and can be found in private collections, including the Permanent Museum of Milan.
